Kontact hangs out

Thu Jun 23, 2011 1:53 pm
Hi all,

I am facing a very annoying issue with Kontact, which freezes when I edit todos (akonadi ressource) and when I try to open the main page (the one that gives an overview of mails, todos, notes, etc...)

Is there something I could do to overcome this?

Thanks for your help!

Does it unfreeze if you wait some time, or is the freeze indefinite? Also, check the resources being used on your computer using the System Activity tool to see if any processes are using your computer excessively.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.

It freezes for at least few minutes. I usually have not the patience to wait until it wakes up... and kill the app.
I use this laptop for office tasks only: there is nothing that uses above 3-7% CPU...

If you open Kontact by running it through Konsole, are any relevant messages output?

Hi,

this is the output when I go to the Resume page, once KOntact is started:

At this point, Kontact has frozen...

If you try under a new user, does it freeze there as well?

Hi,

Well, I first created few local dates and events, and it all worked fine.
Then, I added my Akonadi resources (Google cal, todos & contacts), and it started freezing.

Is there another way than Akonadi to sync data with Google?

thanks

check that you do not have a huge amount of "message tags", I had hundreds of duplicates. After deleting all but one of each tag Kontact went back to "normal speed".

well, I only have few messages tagged as "important", if this is what you meant.
If you are referring to the Config > Appearance > Message tags, then I don't have any... I realized just now, after your message, that this existed - and that I'll need it :)

yes those what I meant- I had hundreds of duplicate ones and once I removed all but 5-6 that I want/need all works fine. they are btw shared with KAdressbook
