As the posts on this forum indicate, this is pretty
broken software, but my problem is that the add new event (and all other add options) in korganizer does not work. furthermore, none of my old events appear in korganizer. I am running korganizer 4.6.0 on gentoo linux system. Inside "settings - configure korganizer" it reports the default_calendar is ready. It points to ~/.kde4/share/ apps/korganizer/std.ics Is there any way (that can be clearly explained) that I can get korganizer working

The posts in this forum are from people who have had problems; those who don't have problems - like myself - don't post anything. I have never had any problems with entering, editing, copying or deleting events in several years of using KOrganiser.

Nor I, until korganizer 4.6.0 ... I guess if it works for you (and you don't know why it works ...) that's good. I wish it worked for me. |

You said that your old events don't appear. This might be a silly question, but have you checked in the bottom left corner if your calendar is activated (=checked)? I think I heard that this is new in 4.6. (IMHO calendars should be activated, not deactivated by default.)
If it weren't activated, that might also explain why you can't add new events to it. |

THANK YOU!
A simple answer to a simple question. Now, my status bar is and remains empty but after adding the "calendar manager" to the sidebar I could see that - like you said - the "Default Calendar" was not activated. Unfortunately, it messed up the import of old events and quadrupled them (!). That is, I for each event already in my old calendar, there are four (4) entries (all same time etc) in the new calendar. But that's another problem ... |

I had a similar problem, but due to the defaults of how my calendar displayed, the box where I needed to activate calendars was invisible.
I went around and around importing calendars and the configuration -- but the create event either was greyed out or simply did not work. The interface is not particularly intuitive in this situation -- perhaps popping up a dialogue that allows calendars to be activated might be worth considering -- or, automatically activating calendars when they are imported. I even RTFM but did not see anything relevant The posts here helped since I knew that there was supposed to be something in the bottom left and kept poking there until the box finally displayed. -Don |
