I "upgraded" to kmail 2.1.0 (kde 4.6.4) (running on
gentoo linux system). It sort of works (to my amazement). I can connect to my imap server, send and receive mail etc. My problem is that the local folders (now for some reason called kmail folders - why destroy the useful information in the name of these folders I wonder?) refuse to remember that messages have been read. This is of course after importing from my old kmail mail files. In every local folder a few messages persistently show up as "unread". If I read these messages the unread marker disappears. But on the next kmail start up all these messages are back to appearing as "unread". Anyone have any idea how this might be fixed. thanks in advance, |

I thought that I could "work around" the persistent
unread mail markers on old messages by copying them to a new folder. Not such a good idea. Now I've lost the data in my messages. Kmail still sees the headers but will not display the messages themselves. Even after restoring a good copy of the file at issue and "updating folder" the message content still does not display. If I start kmail from a console, I get lots of errors like this:

It appears that Nepomuk has crashed. To recover from this, please close all KDE PIM applications, then run the following:
Once Akonadi has started back up, try opening KMail and your other KDE PIM applications.
