I always kept my (pop3) mail in ~/Mail, but with my traumatic migration process, I am not sure where kmail/akonadi looks for my mail anymore. I have a "local folders" resource, with the path set to "~/.local/share/local-mail", but the directory structure there looks empty:

Check ~/Mail, it should still be there. Akonadi stores metadata in the database - think of it as an extended index - and your mail should not have moved at all.

That would be wonderful. Recent mail (from today) does not appear to be in there, though. I can't find that anywhere :$ |

If you only see "Local Folders" in KMail your mails are under $HOME/.local/share/.local-mail.directory You can create an accessor for your old KMail mail manually by adding a "KMail Folders" account/backend handler and pointing it to $HOME/Mail Cheers, _

Why is it here? The configuration specifies .local-mail, how does it end up in .local-mail.directory?

That is how maildir works. Each folder has three subfolders for its own mail, e.g. local-mail/cur, local-mail/new, local-mail/tmp It's subfolders are then stored in a directory with the same name but prefixed by period and sufficexed by .directory, in the case of "local-mail" that makes ".local-mail.directory"

Look at my thread (with solution): viewtopic.php?f=20&t=97996 maybe it may be useful for you. Note my mails ware original in ~/Mail it is important not to use the same folder to copy them back! |
