Hej,
I recently migrated to KMail2 and everything is beginning to work as I want slowly. However, I can't get my MS Exchange 2007 account working properly with it. I'm only talking about Emails via IMAP, so that should work. I created the ressource, my folders get listed properly and the mails are being fetched. So far, so good. But as soon as I get a new mail and KMail fetches them, they get duplicated in my inbox until I shut down the ressource. Interestingly this just appears in my inbox-folder. My sent-mail folder works quite normal. I send an email from my phone, update the sent mail folder and the sent mail appears also in KMail. When I then again subscribe to the inbox folder this mail gets shown there, as well (I sent a test mail to myself). Good, you think. But a second later there is another copy of that mail. A second later another one... So I shutdown the ressource again. And yes, those copies also get duplicated on the server. So when I log in on the webmailer for that account I can also see these copies. I already filed a bug on this(https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=277363), but that wasn't noticed, yet. So my question is: Does anybody have the same issues? Does anybody have a working setup with KMail2 and MS-Exchange2007-IMAP? Cheers Felix |

I have the same issues and it's very annoying. I believe the root issue stems from the fact that Exchange's IMAP server changes one of: UID, UIDVALIDITY, INTERNALDATE of messages - the imap driver notifies once when a message hits the store, and then some Exchange server side process (rules processing/etc..)
Some related rants/info in these links (info is sketchy and I'm no IMAP expert): http://myserverstuff.blogspot.com/2009/ ... e-bis.html http://sup.rubyforge.org/svn/trunk/lib/sup/imap.rb (comments about Exchange halfway down) http://getsatisfaction.com/mozilla_mess ... _over_imap I have similar problems with both Alpine and Thunderbird against Exchange, but Kmail (2.1.1 on KDE 4.6.5) seems more problematic and crashes for me several times a day - I find I need pkill -9 -f kmail to kill kmail but also the akonadi connector processes before it can be restarted. I'm struggling on with it because I prefer the kmail interface (and I have LDAP/GSSAPI queries working against our Active Directory which makes for a seamless address book). I assume that the intended route is to develop the OpenChange connector, rather than beefing up the IMAP support (or adding workarounds for Exchange's poor IMAP anyway). |
