Hi all. Lots of trouble - of course - with the new kmail (I assume
2.1 was rebranded as 4.7 when kde 4.7. was released?). Anyone know what could cause this: kmail shows an almost empty sent-mail folder. The messages do exist in ~/.kde4/share/apps/kmail/mail/sent-mail/ but only the three I most recently sent show up in kmail. Updating kmail-folders does not help ... Here's another and scary thing. I sent a message but if I grep for its contents in the sent-mail folder there is nothing there. But this message does show up in kmail's sent-mail folder. Guess where I find the content of the message? I find it in ~/.local/share/akonadi/file_db_data What is going on here??!! Is kmail not storing my mail in the proper location? How do I tell kmail to use the normal mail location? As an experiment, I copied the three visible sent-mail messages to another, empty, folder. After the copy, the ~/.kde4/.../mail/emptyfolder was still EMPTY. The copied messages turned up in the .local/...file_db_data folder. WTF? I am really at a loss here. sorry I can't ask a more coherent question. I think some of the problem is not me, but the state of kmail |

as a follow up to my post. I was able to import my
sent mail into a different folder. I cannot copy them into the sent mail folder however, but at least I can see them in kmail After the import, all the messages were indeed stored in ~/.local/share/akonadi/file_db_data It strikes me as dangerous to have mail stored in more than one place I thought akonadi just indexed the mail but it seems to be actually storing it and removing it from the folder which kmail settings designates as the mail storage folder I don't think that is very good behaviour |

It's not the behaviour described by the devs, either. I can only suggest that you subscribe to the kde-pim user list (https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-users) where Kevin Krammer is doing his level best to identify the cause of user problems and advise.
