Hi
Every time I start kmail it tries to start akonadi and fails. Nevertheless kmail runs normally, so akonadi seems unnecessary. How can I prevent it from starting akonadi? cheers - Barry |

something must be starting it if Akonadi is running. I'd start by looking at the system tray. Do you use the reminder daemon? Is there anything else in there (or otherwise autostarting) that keeps an index or database? You can either list all running processes on your newly booted system, or hunt through your configuration files and logs for things that might be using Akonadi. r4 3dsIncidentally, it is FUD that Akonadi heavily uses resources. Anyone having resource trouble would be advised to stop Strigi, but not Akonadi.

Hi
Thanks for the reply. I'm pretty sure it's kmail that starts akonadi. It tries to run every time I start kmail, and the only other things in my system tray are klipper, pidgin and kmix. I'm not concerned about akonadi's resource usage. Since it never successfully runs, I doubt it's using any resources. I'd just like to prevent kmail (or whatever) from trying to start akonadi, as it is clearly not needed and always fails, causing a delay when I start kmail, cheers - Barry |
