Do I need to backup these changing/cached files?

Whenever I backup my machine, I've always included my ~/.kde4 folder.

With Akonadi having made its arrival, with an Akonadi object created for each of my KMail IMAP accounts, I have noticed lots of very frequently changing files in

~/.kde4/share/apps/kmail/dimap

and

~/.local/share/akonadi/file_db_data

Every time I do a backup, hundreds of files from these directories get backed up. I'm for sure not changing those files manually.

I've read somewhere that these may be "cache files", that would get rebuilt anyway.

Do I *need* to be backing these files up?

there's a systemtray app for backing up and restoring Akonadi called akonaditray (I'd guess using "stop Akonadi" first might be a good idea)

kindly post your experiences
