Hi all!

In the otherwise wonderful KMail2, with a (D-)IMAP account (IMAP with disconnected thing checked), attachment icons are not shown in any case, no matter if the message is new or old, or if I open it or the attachment itself. The message list shows nothing.

I'm not quite sure if this is related to bugs 93426 or 151941, BTW trying to post to any of those results in error "You are not permitted to edit bugs in product kmail."

Does anybody else have the same problem?

No problem here, I'm seeing attachment icons - at the moment I can't work out how to control this, I'm sure it used to be configurable!

I tried to look in all the Kmail settings, no luck in finding a suitable option.. Though I found many messages by googling talking about some option, but all in old versions of kmail

ehm, apparently I only get the problems in sub-folders, as the mails in the Inbox correctly show the attachment icon, at least for the new incoming emails (as the "old" ones keep not showing anything, even after opening them).

Nobody else is experiencing this?

I know this is already an old topic, but I just found it...

Did you solve your email attachment displaying problem?

I can open all attachments by Kmail2, no problem with that.

My problem is the marking of emails in Kmail2 partly fails. I can see all attachment markings for "received" emails but the "sent" emails have no marking if they contain attachments.

Does anyone else have this issue and is there any solution?

Hello -
nobody using Kmail2 anymore???

Or does nobody have this "missing markings" problem?

I recently have migrated to a new PC from Kubuntu 32bit into Kubuntu 64bit system, this forced me to migrate my emails from kmail2 32bit into kmail2 64bit. I always keep my system updated by the Kubuntu automated update service.

Still all emails I had once migrated from kmail1 into knmail2 16bit still have no markings (like replied, forwarded, attachments) at all.
Thats very poor! These old emails have become difficult to use, since it is hard to find out which one was relied, which one was forwarded, which one has an attachment... who can use it without the known markings?

In kmail2 32bit I first saw the attachments markings are missing for the "sent" emails. This fault still is continued by kmail2 64bit.

Just the newer emails which I received in the meantime, during my kmail2 32bit times, show replied and forwarded markings, except in the "sent emails" folder, where the "attachments" marking is completely lost.

All emails I migrated from kmail2 32bit into kmail2 64bit lost the "attachments" markings in all folders (while the attachments themselves are still accessible in the eamils). I am very frustrated not to be able to see which of the old emails have attachments.

In Kmail2 64bit, its the same sad story as under kmail2 32bit, same as described above. No amendment of missing markings since too long time.

Will kmail2 keep old emails unmarked or is there any "trick" how I could get back the markings, as known from "good old kmail1"?

Hope anybody - beside me - still uses kmail2???????

Hello poomerang,

glad to know the KDE forum is not dead! Do I understand right, you are no more using Kmail at all?

I heard and read about so many who complained about the poor issues with Kmail since its change to Kmail2 and giving up Kmail2.
Actually, for me, Kmail2 is working well, except these damned "missing markings" issues. Thats very frustrating.

In the meantime, I had tried latest Thunderbird, but I found out, without employing some hard-to-find plugins, also Thunderbird has totally lost all markings at all, even for new received emails. It seems the developers of these softwares do not use it by themselves!?!

Since there is no other email client using the favorable Maildir format, I am forced to stay with Kmail2, in spite of frustrating missing markings.

Instead of useful markings, they employed to display funny smileys :'(

well i've just recently started to use a mail client again, because for some time I didn't really need it. but at the moment I'm not on KDE, so that's why I'm not using Kmail2. I'll probably give all of it a try soon, I just got annoyed of some issues, months ago..
But I unluckily didn't hear of much development on kmail after the porting to Akonadi. Maybe it happened "under the hood", I don't know, but it doesn't feel at the center of the attention right now.

It doesn't really matter for the problem, but I haven't had any issues with Thunderbird actually!

On the contrary, after the 4.8 release KMail 2 got a new maintainer, and just a few days ago there was yet another development sprint fixing some of the most pressing issues and laying out plans for the future.

For starters yes I use KMail2 "within" Kontact and I do not see your issue. Since migrating to KMail2 I have used both 32-bit and 64-bit and not seen this with no attachment markers on sent mails or in sent mails folder.

as for migrated Kmail emails w attachments, hold on let me see do I have any still kept... yes I do and for me too all markings are lost. I had to set up a "new" KMail and import all my old mail as the migration went bad in several ways when I tried a simple upgrade at the time.

You should be able to get these markings back as long as they are KMail2 but how goes beyond me and I do not know where they are stored. Perhaps read the sticky thread at the top of this forum?

Just to contradict myself it does seem as most of my old KMail1 mails actually do have both attachment and "replied, forwarded" etc markings. Bad luck had it that I checked in a folder where no such markers exist but in other folders with old email all is there.

and I should add that I only use pop3 accounts, no IMAP
