Kmail2 seem to be great tool for handling emails. Especially I like capabilities of setting up virtual folders for search results and tags as described on different kmail2 specification pages.
Now I have setted up korganizer, nepomuk and akonadi with all whistles and bells but when trying to make an search with different conditions, kmail gives always empty result. When I add some tags to message, it doesn't show up in Tag folders. Tag folders are visible with no contents. I have several POP accounts and fetching emails from server goes well, also filters seem work well. There is no any error messages caused by Akonadi (when testing server) or Nepomuk. How and where to start investigation ? I'm very thankful for practical suggestions. Some datas: Mandriva 2011 KDE 4.6.5 KMail 2.1.1 Akonadi 1.5.3 urpmi shows version of installed nepomuk-email-feeder 4.6.1 ?? |

I have now little investigated these issues.
Nepomuk Shell shows me, that tag's I choosed for emails are registered in Nepomuk database but Nepomuk Tag virtual folders under Kmail doesn't show me any changes. After restarting sometimes it doesn't show me these virtual folders at all, even I have many tags present in Nepomuk database. Kmail search some few times finds some emails but not all, which I know to must be there. Making new search, some matches from old search remain to Search folder. For now it shows me wrong total count - folder contains 5 emails, but number beside folder list shows me 4. Does anybody have experiences with Kmail 2.1.1 ? All this semantik stuff under KDE acts very randomly. What do you suggest me, forget Kmail and return to Thunderbird ? Thanks for attention. |

Yes, Kmail search tool is totally inutile. I supose this feature isn't finished yet so I think the idea of using Thunderbird is a good one, if you need a complete email client, or perhaps Evolution? I don't know much about the latter, though.
If you can live without searches into Kmail itself you can keep using it for managing your mails and search them with krunner. |
