IIRC there is an option for tooltips somewhere which you need to uncheck, but I'm sure you get more knowledgeable answers soonish

You can fix it by going into the Kmail config (Settings --> Configure Kmail), then going to the Appearance Tab, then, finally Message List tab.

From there, you will see, as the first option, Display Tooltips for Messages and Group Headers.

Uncheck that and it will remove the tooltip for messages.
