why the message indicator in kde 4.7.2 in kubuntu dosent works for kmail.
it works for kopete. but i dont know hot to set it working with kmail
please help

I have tried to get it work too. From what i have found there should be checkbox in Configure Kmail -> Accounts called "Use Message Indicator", but i don't see anything like that there.
I am also using kde 4.7.2 and message indicator works for kopete too. Can someone help please?

If the mail indicator applet is the thing that duplicates the plasma notifications functions, then it was dropped in KMail 2.

I found that post too, but i wasn't sure if it was actual - popup help that appears when i click on Message indicator icon says that it supports KMail:



That should be corrected as it is confusing.
For now i have solved this by turning on notifications and enabling system tray icon in KMail, but still i would more prefer Message indicator as it is more elegent solution...

the message indicator could be referring to Kmail1 and you could be using Kmail2 and mi hasn't been updated to reflect the new Kmail
