I've filled in bug report https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=289207 but probably there are some people that could help.

As suggested I will also look for help within Gentoo:
http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-6910074.html

Sometimes I got the following message when trying to send message via IMAP via
KMail2:

E-mail sending failed: Failed to transport message. An error occurred during
authentication: SASL(0): successful result:

and am therefore unable to send any message.

Since it occurs once it keeps occuring until I reboot my machine.

I have fill KDE SC 4.8beta2

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
Send e-mail

Actual Results:

E-mail sending failed: Failed to transport message. An error occurred during
authentication: SASL(0): successful result:

Expected Results:
E-mail sent

I'll gladly provide any possible additional information if directed where to
look for.

You can restart the mail transport agent from akonadiconsole instead of rebooting, as a workaround. Does this behavior also happen with a new user account, by the way? What are your SMTP settings?

Here are my settings (from mailtransport file):

Code: Select all
[$Version]
update_info=mailtransports.upd:initial-kmail-migration,mailtransports.upd:initial-knode-migration

[General]
default-transport=859248232

[Transport 193236649]
auth=true
authtype=0
encryption=SSL
host=mail.whyblack.pl
id=193236649
name=mail.whyblack.pl
port=465
storepass=true
user=###

[Transport 859248232]
auth=true
authtype=1
encryption=TLS
host=smtp.gmail.com
id=859248232
name=GMail
port=587
storepass=true
user=###

Can you please tell me how to restart mail transport exactly? I only know how to restart whole akonadi, but that didn't helped when I've tried last time.

Will try it out than tomorrow and post the results with any other useful data asked for :)

[EDIT] I don't see SMTP agents in akonadiconsole - where to look for?

The agent is called the "Mail Dispatcher" I believe.

Resetting Mail Dispatch Agent nor resetting all Akonadi doesn't help.

Any useful output in ~/.xsession-errors when you try to send emails?

I see this:

Code: Select all
kontact(2101)/kdepimlibs (mailtransport): Could not access Outbox.

Is your Local Folder resource properly configured?

I guess an Outbox folder does exist in your Local Folders?

There exists "outbox", but not "Outbox".

And sometimes sending e-mails works... Shall I rename it or something?

The "outbox" is a kind of special folder that Akonadi treats differently. I'm not sure however that this is actually a lead to your problem.

Any other suggestions? Or is there any more information I can provide to help?
