Despite having aspell and my dictionaries installed, Spell checking in the mail composer window doesn't work. It marks all words as "wrong" (red underline) despite of automatic spell checking is on and the correct dictionary is selected...
Any ideas? Should I open a bug? |

Have you configured Spell Checker in the "Locale" section of System Settings?

Yes. And also is enabled the Automatic Spell Checking setting. |

It might be useful to mention which version of KMail (and which of Kubuntu) to find out whether other have the same problem. If they don't it's probably not a bug, but a personal setting.

I'm having the same problem in Arch Linux x86_64. Everything is set up properly with aspell installed and spellcheck activated but Kmail doesn't correct any spelling mistakes.

Unfortunately I've quit of using KMail2.
Too many issues, and unable to get work done. This issue is pretty annoying because I have two computers, and it works well (the spell checking) on one of them and with the same configuration it doesn't work on my main work computer. The final straw was Akonadid IMAP connector duplicating messages and "Unable to fetch item" over and over again... I had to kill the Akonadi database to get rid of the errors that even pop-up during the screensaver... So I've changed to ThunderBird and Lightning and problem solved. Next year I'll try again Kmail2 (or 3), but for now... |
