Hi,
I'm on a fresh installed fully functional Arch_X86_64/KDE 4.7.4 system. KDE includes support for English and Hebrew and is configured to Jerusalem time zone. Although I've verifies that all date and time formats are the defaults, Calendar insists on displaying the time format in the vertical middle page bar in Day and Week views as a weird 11", 12" etc. although the current time (horizontal red bar) displays correct (e.g. 11:00). I've tried to modify the time format both from Calendar (Settings--> Configure Calendar), and also from KDE System Setting-->locale-->Date and Time, but neither helped, even after reboot. Please advise how to restore normal time format display? Thanks Michael Badt |

Can you please provide a screenshot of this?
Screenshots will need to be posted on external sites such as Imagebin, Imageshack, Picasa, etc.

Per your request, here is a screen capture

What is your time format setting? Specifically the setting found in
"System Settings -> Locale -> Country/Region -> Date/Time". Try setting the "Time Format" to something different like "HH:MM:SS". Close Kontact and then reopen to see the change. 1pm should display as 13oo.

Thanks for trying but, as I've originally stated, I've tried that one before.
Anyway, I've tried it again per your request, yet it did NOT change the wrong display. My original Country/Time format has been Israel/ HH:MM:SS. I've changed it to Israel/pH:MM:SS AMPM, rebooted, and still got the same wrong (only) middle time format. Returning the time format back to the original HH:MM:SS, closing Kontact and restarting it did not change anything either. Any more ideas? Thanks |

Another possibility may be a font incompatibility or size issue on the time bar. From the picture you have I can't zoom enough to tell for sure, but try a few different and larger fonts. A longshot, but worth a try.

I believe the tiny digits (looks like "" to me) seen on your screen are actually 00. Please see http://i.imgur.com/nIXn2.png. As to why they appear so heavily distorted - I do not know. I suspect it may be caused by the font sizes in use on your system perhaps?

Thanks a lot the two of you.
I indeed has been a font problem. Yet, in the "problematic area" only, the minutes (MM) use a smaller font than the hours (HH), and that's the problem. Is this only on my system, or is this the default. If it's the default, can it be changed? Thanks Michael Badt |

I can confirm that the font is smaller for minutes in comparison to hours. From what I can tell in the config interface - it cannot be changed. The font face (and possibly the size) might be changeable through the global KDE System Settings font sizes however.

It may not be the same thing, of course, but I had the problem that no matter what I set, all date displays were MM:DD:YYYY instead of the British DD:MM:YYYY. You could always try what worked to correct this. Set both LANG and LC_TIME in ~/.bash_profile to the country format you want to be the default.
