badly corrupted POP email

Fri Feb 03, 2012 1:43 pm
I recently upgraded to Centos6.2 which has
KMail
Version 1.12.4
Using KDE 4.3.4 (KDE 4.3.4)

Since then I have been seeing some messages from mailing lists turning up in my inbox looking like:

Is this a bug in this version of kmail? It seems unlikely that my ISP's mail service went bad at the same time I upgraded.

I tried IMAP too but it returned plenty of corrupt e-mail too but with different problems.

Which version of KDE did you upgrade from?

Also, have you tried reproducing your issue with IMAP accounts under a new user?

I upgraded from a very old KDE3 in Fedora 6. I don't know what you mean by an IMAP account under a new user. There is only the one IMAP account on my ISP's mail server.

I was using mbox format and I changed everything to maildir but it didn't make a difference.

For the last 24 hours I've been getting my email using fetchmail+procmail, only using kmail to read them. So far I haven't had any corruption.

Your observation about it working perfectly fine if retrieved using fetchmail + procmail is very interesting, and indicates that either the IMAP or POP resources might be corrupting emails in some way.

Can you please raise this issue on the kdepim-users@kde.org mailing list which I believe some developers monitor?
