I recently upgraded to Centos6.2 which has
KMail Version 1.12.4 Using KDE 4.3.4 (KDE 4.3.4) Since then I have been seeing some messages from mailing lists turning up in my inbox looking like: From unknown@unknown.invalid Sat Feb 4 00:28:10 2012 Status: R X-Status: N X-KMail-EncryptionState: X-KMail-SignatureState: X-KMail-MDN-Sent: es@lists.fedoraproject.oces@lists.fedoraproject.org> Deliveredceived: (qmail 1et.au Received: (qmail 15603 invoked from netwo-0000 Received:13:24:18 -0000 Received: from unknown (HELO icpau) ([203.59.1.1inet.net.au) ([203.59.1.191]) (envelolists.fedoraproj-bounces@lists.fedoraproject.org>) byau (qmail-ldap-1inet.net.au (qmail-ldap-1.03) with SMTP ; 3 Feb 2012 13:t.net.au>; 3 Feb 2012 13:24:18 -0000 X-IronPort X-IronPort-Antred: true X-IronPort-Anti-Spam-Result: AosBAPneUqPWGgqAQEBAQEICbABDBoUFmUqPWGgqAQEBAQEICwsHFCWBcgEBAQQBAQEPAg8RQsNAgIFBA8DAwQEAAQIGAQEFBQsNAgIFBA8DAwQEAgICAQEFAwIBAgEMBQQBCQMBpsJCosmSoJwhSk/iGAQBhyA9BpsJCosmSoJwhSk/iHECBQuBJIobDgEHGgYCBgELWELgkKBFgSMfIYEgGQQDDAMUBWELgkKBFgSMfIYEgieFRYhVPUADgz8 X-IronP352,1325433600";;i="4.73,352,1325433600"; d="scan'208";a="8 bastion01.fedorved: from bastion01.fedoraproject.org (HELO bast209.132.181.2]) t.org) ([209.132.181.2]) by inbound.icp-qv1-ih ESMTP; 03 Feb et.au with ESMTP; 03 Feb 2012 21:24:16 +0800 Reproject.org (colts.fedoraproject.org (collab03.vpn.fedoraproject bastion01.phx2.70]) by bastion01.phx2.fedoraproject.org (Post1198; Fri, 3 id 9993521198; Fri, 3 Feb 2012 13:23:56 +0000llab03.fedorapro: from collab03.fedoraproject.org (localhost [12raproject.org (Pists.fedoraproject.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 42012 13:23:54 +0, 3 Feb 2012 13:23:54 +0000 (UTC) X-Original-Tect.org ....... Rlibvpx issues, anyone? Is this a bug in this version of kmail? It seems unlikely that my ISP's mail service went bad at the same time I upgraded. I tried IMAP too but it returned plenty of corrupt e-mail too but with different problems. |

Which version of KDE did you upgrade from?
Also, have you tried reproducing your issue with IMAP accounts under a new user?

I upgraded from a very old KDE3 in Fedora 6. I don't know what you mean by an IMAP account under a new user. There is only the one IMAP account on my ISP's mail server. I was using mbox format and I changed everything to maildir but it didn't make a difference. For the last 24 hours I've been getting my email using fetchmail+procmail, only using kmail to read them. So far I haven't had any corruption. |

Your observation about it working perfectly fine if retrieved using fetchmail + procmail is very interesting, and indicates that either the IMAP or POP resources might be corrupting emails in some way.
Can you please raise this issue on the kdepim-users@kde.org mailing list which I believe some developers monitor?
