running opensuser 12.1 with the following stuff - installed all via YAST!

tbird
enigmail
pinentry
gnupg - or how this part was called exactly. ... under the root - (/as the superuser) Can this cause some troubles!?

when i start tbird and click on any mail then i get the following error:

"the GPG-Agent-Aapplication for your GnuPG-Version 2.0.18 could not get startet.. "

well after struggeling with this for a while i thougt that i have to trry out something new....i tried to activate the kde integrated gpg agent

i was guidet through a tour - within the kgp application - and finally i was able to

create a new key and to integrate or better import some keys (that i have stored on a usb-stick, note those keys i saved from the old machine...]

well - all went nice - but i still am not able to get rid of this annoying buggy meessage

"the GPG-Agent-Aapplication for your GnuPG-Version 2.0.18 could not get startet.. "

how can i start the integrated pgp-agent that comes shipped with the new kde ?

If you run "gpg-agent --daemon" using Konsole, what is output?

GPG_AGENT_INFO=/tmp/gpg-YXKOYa/S.gpg-agent:3765:1; export GPG_AGENT_INFO;
martin@linux-wyee:~>

note - i did not run this as superuser. i runned the command as user.

Once you have run "gpg-agent --daemon" as I described above, did Thunderbird continue to have problems?

hello dear buddy,
if i do start with the command line and start tbird afterwards

and then all works fine - without the annouyng terrrible message -[see above]

what should i do. Schould i start the agent on the commandline every time!

well i would do this - if it is the fix for this buggy behaviour
which may be rootet in some misconfigured installations that i did.. ;-)

love to hear from you

greetings

Try moving your ~/.gnupg folder elsewhere and then trying.
Otherwise you will need to use the workaround - although gpg-agent should be started when you login.
