Greetings,
I just installed KDE PIM (only) on my laptop. Since I didn't install konqueror, when I click on a link, kmail tries to bring up winebrowser which doesn't work at all. Is there any way to get kmail to load firefox when I click on a link? ddan |

Go to "System Settings" and find the "Default Applications" icon. The rest should be self explanatory.

Unhinged thanks for your reply.
Default Applications "Web" is set to firefox. I run gnome as my desktop, so am I setting the default for the system or just gnome. Do I need to be in the KDE desktop for system settings to work? I have only installed the KDE PIM module to get kmail and kaddressbook. ddan |

I'm not 100% sure about that. Given that disk real estate is cheap (tsunamis notwithstanding) I would have installed both complete. You might need to install the minimums.

KDE has it's own definitions of which application is the default for activities such as Web Browsing.
If you have an application called "System Settings" despite only having KMail as your only KDE application, then you are dealing with a GNOME application (they decided it was a great idea to conflict with KDE application names) If you do not have an application called "System Settings" (or have the GNOME one - which won't work here) then try running "kcmshell4 componentchooser".
