Hi there,

i searched for some hours now - but no solution yet.

(Using Kubuntu 11.10 and Kmail/KDE 4.8.0.)

So - when you got an reply to a mail and keep both - your mails and the repliers - in the same folder, the mail discussion is kept in a tree like manner (like shown in this picture (not by me - but just to show what i mean).

Image

If you got a new mail it is automatically put on the end of you former mail to this topic.

Now the problem:
I found no solution to automatically show those mails on top/as newest mail in my folder.
I usually sort by date - so all further replies are stored on the date of the first mail of the tree.
So to show new answers you alwasy have to scroll and look - or filter by unread.

Is there a way to automatically show a tree on top if there's a new answer??

To avoid confusion:
I already know that can Sorty by date/Time of newest Message of a group.

But an example - if you have two groups with each 15 mails - and got replies to each the same second - the newst mail will be at the bottom - so you would still have the to scroll down 15 mail to see new answer 1 and again 15 mails to see new answer 2 - as the grouping starts with the first mail of the group (by date).

Any hint would be great!!

What type of Aggregation are you using for your messages, and have you customised it?

You can change the Aggregator in KMail > Settings > Configure KMail > Appearance > Message List.

I'm using the
classical view (design - last option)- with
standard news-layout (last option) and
sorting by date/time of the newest mail of a group , newest on top (3rd option top list, 2nd bottom list)

(brackets mean the options in the lists you get in the dropdown right-clicking the line between search field and your mails)

hope thats what you mean.

Ok, it looks like you will have to file a feature request in regards to this unfortunately.

From you first post it sounded like it is possible in another type of aggragation ;) - which would also be fine.

Anyways - Dumb question maybe - but where can i ask for a feature? Bugtracker?
Never done this before.

Features can be requested on bugs.kde.org - or in the KDE Brainstorm on this forum.
