Kmail 4.8 / opensuse 12.1
When I hit the Del button or choos move message to trash the message dosen't end up in the trash folder but is deleted permanently. Tried to find any settings about trash, but couldn't. I also notice that the message context menu->"move message to" doesn't have any entries although a have a number of folders. Migrated from opensuse 11.4 with non-akonadi-kmail, but have more or less migrated the emails and much of the settings by hand, however I was not able to make kmail not remember all settings. ![]() I have all my emails in "Kmail folders" downloaded from gmail with pop3. "Local folders" are empty. So how can I make this work? |

Interesting. Here, using a basic test setup with just "Local Folders" containing a Trash folder (among others) it moves emails to the Trash folder successfully.
If you right click on a email, what two options does it provide below "Print"?

I cannot reproduce this issue myself (I do this twice a week to clean up my spam folder).

When I have local email only downloaded using pop3, should I use "kmail folders" or "local folders"? "kmail folders" seems to be saved using akonadi (?) and local folders using standard maildir folders. Anyway the trash should be working whether I use one or the other, right?

Try to use the "Local Folders" if at all possible. The KMail Folder resource is slightly different and may be causing this issue.

Moving to "Local Folders" fixed the problem. Thanks!

I saw the solution, but don't know what to do next. I have two accounts. One is my ISP connection and one is local folders the local folders account, has no way for me to plug in all the passwords and protocols to retrieve mail. The account generated that has all that gobbledy-gook in it, works just fine. Just would like to be able to have deleted mail goto TRASH, so if I deleted something by mistake, I can retrieve it. As it stands, one slip and whatever's selected is GONE forever!

I would recommend checking your KMail settings - my tests here indicate it works as expected.
Please make sure you have followed the advice above.
