Hello,
I few weeks ago I upgraded my KDE 4.7.4 to KDE 4.8. Now my KMail no longer provide a list of contacts from my address book while I write. Let's say I want to write a mail to "Jonas" an start writing "jo" it would've provided a list with contacts which names or mails start with "jo" in KDE 4.7. Now with KDE 4.8 I have no longer this functionality. Was this removed or what can be the reason? Thanks a lot! Regards, Ctwx |

This is a known bug that bugs many, with no known workaround. See here. I've had it for almost as soon as Kmail 4.6 was out, so I know how you feel.

I use the [Select...] button in the composer window to open my address book lists and choose who to send it to. Of course, in the glorious tradition of workarounds, you need to do this for every address you want to select from the address book.
If you only have one address, it's quicker to have the address book open and go to the contact and click on the email address. This will open a composer window with the contact's email entered properly (Contact Name <em@il.id>).

Yes, that works for me too, but it's faster just to type "ja" if I want to Mail James Miller (this is just an example
![]() It worked before, so I'm not sure what's broken. :\ |

I am using a Ubuntu 12.04 quantal system and I must say that the last week it suddenly worked with KDE 4.8.3, but now with KDE 4.8.80 is not working once again...

Is Nepomuk enabled on your systems?
Also, have you tried editing contact entries to see if triggering a reindex helps?
