Simon crashed (error message)

Sun Mar 09, 2014 8:36 pm
During my first run, started training the software to recognize my voice.

It looks as if, once the compilation finished something fell over and two error messages were reported:
Error: ksimond
Simond crashed. (Status 1)

Error: Simon
Connection error:
The remote host closed the connection.

The [Activate] button is now grayed out. Am I missing something? is this normal behavior? how do I reactivate Simon?

Thank you.
System information:
Win7 Home Premium
HP6710F / 3.75GB usable RAM / 64-bit OS

Attempting to restart Simon I got the following error message:
The model synchronization reported the following error:
The synchronization is already running.
If you are sure that this is a mistake, please disconnect from Simond and re-connect.

Please tell me more about your setup. (Simon version, exact configuration,...)

Best regards,
Peter

Sorry, I should have been more specific: What kind of scenarois did you install and what kind of training did you do?

Best regards,
Peter

Hm, since you do your own training, that should work fine. I'm curious about your selection, though. For example, I see two recognition control scenarios in there that both do the same thing - which, if your list is in the same order as your configuration in Simon, won't do much (they each need to be on top of the list to be the most useful).

Simond crashing is always a bug but it's gonna be hard to debug. Can you try if you can reproduce it? In Simon, open the File menu. You'll see an item that says "Connected" (your Simon is configured to auto-connect to the local Simond). Click it to disconnect. This will cleanly shut down the connection to the server. Then click on "File" > "Connect" to reconnect. The synchronization should run again (no error). Does it complete this time or does Simond crash again?

When Simon starts it reports:
The remote host closed the connection.

I tried switching to manual synchronization, then connecting. It took maybe half a second longer to crash but the same result: remote host closed the connection.

I changed the synchronization to automatic sync.
Result:

The synchronization is already running.
Disconnected manually using the File > Connect menu command.
Simon status indicates that it is now "Connected but deactivated" and compiling the model (at 20%, watching for further progress. P.S. compilation is now complete.)

I will let you know if I experience further problems. Thank you for helping me with this.
