Batch (input from file) processing?

Sat Mar 29, 2014 12:22 am
Hi all, apologies for the complete newbie question, but I failed to find anything about this in the manuals.

I would like to have simon read a pre-existing audio file, and transcribe that to text, rather than have it listen to live audio.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Appreciate any input,
Cheers!
Simon

You will want to use the decoder (for example pocketsphinx) directly for this.

Please get in touch with e.g. the SPHINX developers (if you want to use their system).

Hey, just signed up for this forum. I'm looking at speech-to-text options so I'm kicking the tires on Simon to see what kind of open source options are available. I probably will not use voice commands.

More to the point of the subject line (batch input), I'm recording the speech with a high quality mic and then will run those recordings thru a speech-to-text processing. I found some software to simulated/emulate a mic at http://vb-audio.pagesperso-orange.fr/Cable/ - which will add a virtual mic driver to the windows devices. So if your batch file is a pre-recorded test file, direct your player to vb output and point the simon mic at vb input.

The audio file-to-simon works...just no speech recognition :)

....which brings up a couple of questions. Is there rudimentary dictation support? I only need stream of consciousness text, so 70-80% recognition rate could be acceptable. Is there a raw text file that I could retrieve?

No, there is neither back processing nor dictation support that is ready for end-user consumption. At least for now.
Please be patient, we are working on it.

Best regards,
Peter
