Touchscreen recently not working

Sun Jul 02, 2017 3:35 pm
Hi everyone,

I've got a Dell Inspiron 7537 with KDE Neon 10.5.3, and it has recently developed a problem where when i do a cold boot-up the touchscreen doesn't work. when i run

Code: Select all
xinput list

it doesn't return anything about ELAN touchscreen, which from memory is what it should be returning. However, it comes to life after i do a quick close-open of the lid.

I've searched around and though the problem is out there it seems to be the reverse of my situation: the touchscreen is lost after closing the lid. The problem seems to have been around for a few years now so I'm wondering has there been a fix that I've been missing or is a fix in the works, since this is a relatively recent problem for me, i only really noticed a couple of weeks back really, Ubuntu has fairly rubbish touchscreen support anyway and I don't use it much because of this.

Hope someone can point me in the right direction and thanks in advance for your helps...
