Marble and OpenPilot

Fri Nov 29, 2013 2:03 pm
Hi Marble,

OpenPilot (http://www.openpilot.org/) has published a short video demonstrating the integration of Marble inside the OpenPilot Ground Control Station.
The announcement and video can be found here : http://www.openpilot.org/introducing-marble-gcs-plugin/

We hope that it is just the beginning of a long story...

Regards,
Philippe.

Nice, thanks for sharing :)

Give us a call if you need help integrating stuff. Do you plan to show the current location of UAVs in the map? You can add custom position tracking plugins to Marble (or use existing ones like gpsd, qtmobility if they suffice). It's even possible to do that on the fly without installing a real plugin. The benefits of using a position tracking plugin is that you can easily show the track and current information (position, altitude, location precision etc), and use auto-navigation (centering on the current position of the UAV). Alternatively it's possible to add custom layers and do similar. That approach is useful if you want to track more than one object at a time.

Sorry was really busy lately and only checked the forum now.

Yes, tracking an UAV position is part of our plans.
I actually have it working and did it the way you suggest by creating a new position tracker plugin.
One improvement I'd like to see or do is to be able to see the track as the uav moves (and not just a series of fading dots).
Unless I am missing something, only ended tracks are shown.

Will keep you posted...
