Hi,
I am participating in a navigational challenge in a few weeks, somewhere in the UK. We don't get told exactly where until the day of the challenge! I have Marble, with a working gpsd device. It all works very nicely. What I would like to do is have the entire OSM dataset for the UK + Ireland available off-line. I know that you can 'Download Region', but that doesn't permit me to download enough tiles. Very roughly, it is 12,000,000 tiles! (I think!) The OSM dataset is about 30Gbyte, so that is downloadable. I suppose as a last resort, in principle I could download the OSM dataset, and a suitable server, and point Marble at the loopback address to get the tiles. Has anybody done anything like this before?, and could give me some pointers? What would be the best way to do this? Thanks in advance! Chris. |
