Marble 2.2.1, running under OpenSUSE LEAP 42.3

I have a GPX route (created with https://wtp2.appspot.com/wheresthepath.htm, which is great). I can File > Open... the GPX file, which appears as a thick blue line.. and that's it. I can't interact with it, I can't close it, I can't return any of the embedded track info.

I converted it to KML (using https://gpx2kml.com/), and opened it with 'Routing' - and an 'A' route start marker appears in the mid-point of the track.. and that's it. There's nothing in the route list. And the route elevation widget shows nothing.

Am I overestimating Marble's capabilities? It's a great project and very smooth, but maybe not much use outside of urban areas. I can see how the automatic route-finding is useful if you can't figure out how to get from one place to another. But I've got a route, that can't be created automatically, that can't be displayed, edited, or anything.

Should I consider creating a 'manual route editor' plug-in, if I want this kind of functionality?

best wishes - JS

I think yes you should consider manual route editor plugin. I have created one but that is very basic, that's for the simulations of my thesis work. It can only compose a new track and the track can be saved as GeoJSON. However being tightly integrated with my algorithm requirements it is not just a track of spatial information. It requires time to be entered for each purpose. So that's not a general purpose track editor.
