marble map problem

Sun Oct 24, 2010 7:14 am
Hi everyone,
Sorry if it is the wrong place to post this.

I have searched the forum,(also web) I could not find a clue about this problem. I have downloaded the source code and compiled as qt app. When I run the marble some maps look distorted. I have attached the screenshots. As seen from the screenshots, satellite view is ok, however plain an atlas are not.
I am using ubuntu 10.10, and qt 4.7.0

Have you tried them closer to earth? The further you are away from earth, the less likely you are to be able to see these differences. I tried them from a closer viewpoint and they do make a difference.

No matter how far away you are, you shouldn't see earth as a uniform white ball. There is definitely something going wrong here.

Hi,

Better ask on the mailing list marble-devel@kde.org. :-)

Without any more input my guess is that you still have an old Marble version installed and that the Marble executable is using the old Marble library instead of the new one.
The current one should be e.g.

/usr/local/lib/libmarblewidget.so.11

if you have a libmarblewidget.so.10 in the same directory (or inside /usr/lib) then this might be the reason for your problem and you want to get rid of it :-)

thanks tackat, it worked :-)

Although I have built it from the last stable source code, also I have installed marble from ubuntu reps. Apperantly the libs coming from that were old.

We have a Windows version, so yes you can. You can download it from http://developer.kde.org/~tackat/marble/marble-setup-0.10.1.exe

An interim link is http://ktown.kde.org/~tackat/marble/mar ... 0.10.1.exe
The initial link should be fixed soon, I have contacted the responsible person.
