Ok, I suspect I've done something wrong but I don't know what
I want to start a new KDE program - but I only have four template choices and none are suitable! The "Create New Project" with three boxes says "General" and in the first box lists "KDE" + "Standard". "Standard" just gives one choice of "Terminal" (Simple CMake-based C++ application) "KDE" gives three choices of "Graphical", "Test" and "Terminal" All three are CMake Qt templates - NONE involve any set-up for KDE applications My previous experience with KDevelop3 had lots of useful templates. Is there something wrong with my installation? Using newish install of OpenSUSE 12.2 with KDE 4.8.5 KDevelop4 4.3.1 Many thanks |

Is kapptemplate installed on your system?

How does one install kapptemplate? I must be just glazing over something really obvious because I can't find anything about how to install plugins or modify the installation (and I'd rather not compile from source or something fairly complex). Looked at the manual http://userbase.kde.org/KDevelop4/Manual, http://userbase.kde.org/KDevelop4/FAQ, http://userbase.kde.org/KDevelop4/TipsAndTricks, and the plugins page https://projects.kde.org/projects/extra ... op/plugins (which oddly just shows Custom Buildsystem and a couple PHP things).
EDIT: OK, I found the kapptemplate package. I installed KDevelop from Muon Software Manager so I guess I thought it would've installed everything. I'm noticing that kdeskk (KDE Software Development Kit) is not available through the Muon Software Manager, unfortunately. I'm looking to install kdevelop-python and start a python project. Noticed some more plugins here https://projects.kde.org/projects/playg ... ls/plugins but no Python that I can see. |

The main KDE modules (such as kdesdk) are usually broken up into multiple packages by distributions - often down to the level of individual applications (hence why you could only find kapptemplate and not kdesdk in Muon).
The KDevelop Python plugin is currently in KDE Review as it is moving from playground to extragear. Please see https://projects.kde.org/projects/kdereview/kdev-python for it's current page (when it moves to Extragear this link will become invalid). You will need to compile the source code and install it appropriately before it becomes usable and accessible with KDevelop however.
