Custom build system not available

Tue May 21, 2013 7:57 pm
Hello everyone,

big thanks for all the work that went into KDevelop so far. I enjoy it!

I do have a problem getting the custom build system to work in KDev 4.5 on Kubuntu 13.04.
In "Project configuration" only "CMake" and "Make" show up. No "Custom Build" plugin is listed in the plugin list.
Code: Select all
$ locate kdevcustombuildsystem.so
/usr/lib/kde4/kcm_kdevcustombuildsystem.so
/usr/lib/kde4/kdevcustombuildsystem.so

So it should be installed.
Nonetheless I tried compiling the latest plugin.
Code: Select all
wget -c http://anongit.kde.org/kdev-custom-buildsystem/kdev-custom-buildsystem-latest.tar.gz
tar -xzf kdev-custom-buildsystem-latest.tar.gz && cd kdev-custom-buildsystem && ./initrepo.sh
mkdir build && cd build
cmake -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=/home/patrick/Documents/kdevelop -DCMAKE_PREFIX_PATH=/home/patrick/Documents/kdevelop ../ && make -j2 && make install
export KDEDIRS=/home/patrick/Documents/kdevelop/ && kbuildsycoca4 && kdevelop

Still no plugin or entry in "Project configuration" show up.
Code: Select all
lsof -p <kdevelopPID>|grep kdevcustombuildsystem
shows no results.

Any help to getting the plugin to work is appreciated. If it helps I might also compile kdev from scratch but at the moment that still seems like overkill.

Hey,
just solved it myself.

The choice of build system is done on project creation. If one wants to use the "Custom Build System" one has to create a new project and select "Custom Build" in the wizard.

Thanks anyways.

Yes. ;)
Good you figured it out.

Cheers,
