Hi,
I have been using KDevelop and kdevelop-python for a few months now, with good success. However, after upgrading KDevelop from 4.5 to 4.6 yesterday, all python support seems to have vanished from the IDE. I still get some syntax highlighting, about as much as I would in kate, but that's it. It's like the plugin is just not installed, (It's not listed under Settings -> Configure KDevelop -> Plugins, either.) Recompiling and reinstalling kdevelop-python does not help, either. I am using Gentoo, btw, installing both KDevelop and kdevelop-python via Gentoo's portage. The version of kdevelop-python I'm using is 1.5.2. Does anybody know what's going wrong here or have some pointers where I could look further? |

I just found out that if I change X-KDevelop-Version from 15 to 16 in /usr/share/kde4/services/kdevpdb.desktop and /usr/share/kde4/services/kdevpythonsupport.desktop, python support will be loaded again. However, somehow I don't think this is really a solution…
For one thing, I'm manually editing a file managed by my package manager (not a good idea in general) and for another, this kinda feels like I'm manually overriding some kind of ABI compatibility check. |

Yes, you do. There's a 1.6 version of kdev-python, which is what you should use with kdevplatform 1.6 (KDevelop 4.6). If you build from sources, update -- if you installed it from packages, update the package, or blame your distribution for not providing 1.6 packages. Greetings!
I'm working on the KDevelop IDE.
