If that is the case, then this is a packaging bug and you should report it to the Kubuntu people. From our side, this works.

I'm working on the KDevelop IDE.

Filed a bug report and for anyone else who has the same problem this is the solution:

The error messages want to tell you (in their own very special way), that you do not have cmake installed.
Run
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install cmake

and the problem is solved.

Hi

In case you still haven't got the solution to your problem here it is:
- Install cmake ;)
I'm puzzled by the fact that cmake isn't dependency to KDevelop since it's used by it but that's the case.

oops it seems I've looked at out-of-date version of this topic. Now after I posted this I can see that people already gave you the solution... ;D

Guys, i found what is a problem, you must install ,,cmake'' in order to use KDevelop properly, when i did this, it worked like a charm.

Thanks guys working through this issue.
I installed KDevelop and got the same error. I installed cmake and it seems to have resolved the problem.
What I want to mention is that this is still an issue 6-7 months later on. When I run apt show kdevelop I do not see in the dependencies 'cmake', which is in the suggestions. Perhaps 'cmake' should be a dependency rather than a suggestion?

It's a packaging issue, you must report it to your distribution, not to KDE. We don't directly provide the list of dependencies for that package.

Depending on the distribution, some will likely refuse to add this (because it is unnecessary at build time). If this is the case, please note that here so we can maintain a list of distributions whose packaging is not totally correct and the necessary fixes to correct this.

Hi all,

I'm new to Debian and to KDE.
I've installed Jessie 2 weeks ago.
I did install KDevelop last week and got this famour error with CMake.

I tried to install CMake, but "apt-get" is not working because the depository for CMake is unknown.
I've searched, but found only tar.gz files, and not a repository with the whole package.

I'm puzzeled why recent posts noted "apt-get install" because it is not working here!
Could you help me??

Thanks in advance

That sounds strange. Try apt-get update; apt-get install cmake. Please paste the error here if it doesn't work.
