Hi, first of all, congrats and thanks for the new release, I am very excited about it.
I do PHP development and one of the main reasons I like to use KDevelop is because it allows me to load remote projects through KIOslaves (sftp:// and the like) which is really convenient. Now, in the past with 4.* loading remote projects took quite some time but once the project file was downloaded, I could "Stop the job" and the project would appear on the Projects tool view, even if it couldn't parse the whole file structure or parse completely. This was really convenient because I could open the file I wanted and then hit "Reload" on the project to continue the load while I was already working on something. On the new version it seems this is no longer an option since "stopping the job" while the project is loading (once the project file has already been downloaded) makes the load stop, and the project never appears. Is this the intended behaviour? Is there a way to change it back? Thanks. |

Hmm, did you try using sshfs instead? I could imagine that works much better.

I will give it a try and report back, in the past I had some issues with it and the simplest solution for me was using network folders.
Another thing I noticed is that parsing the projects takes much longer now than it did on 4.*, is there more complex parsing being done now? I have 4 threads assigned to the background parser which used to be more than enough. |

Do you actually have 4 CPUs? The parsing is more complex, but scales better with number of CPUs, so it should level out for moderately powerful machines.

So yeah, I've been trying the whole day and, besides general lag on the whole DE (kinda got better doing this https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/40260 ), Kdevelop hasn't been able to load any remote project (it would freeze completely for a long time, making it impossible to even work on other projects) or just after leaving it frozen for a while, keep on "loading the project" forever. Am I doing something wrong? Do people actually use SSHFS to load remote projects? Is there no way to get back the old behaviour? I was perfectly happy using kioslaves and sftp. |

I sometimes use it over sshfs at work. But there I'm on a 1G connection to the other machine, so I guess that doesn't count. But at least it works in principle.
I don't know what the issue is, sorry

I'm afraid I'll have to downgrade to 4.*
This has render KDevelop unusable for my current workflow. I'll keep researching and report back. Good thing there's the AppImage now so I guess I'll be able to have both versions running on my system. Thanks for your help anyway! |
