I installed KDevelop using sudo apt-get install kdevelop but once installed, I noticed that it was a few versions behind. I then removed it using sudo apt-get remove kdevelop. Then I did sudo apt-get purge kdevelop. Then I did sudo apt autoremove to remove packages that were automatically installed.

Next, I followed the wget instructions on the 'Download' page but the installation brings up a KDevelop window with missing visual components and hangs there. I tried this several times and it consistently failed to install properly. I tried this several times, here is the latest errors after typing ./KDevelop.AppImage:

Code: Select all
Fontconfig error: "/etc/fonts/conf.d/10-scale-bitmap-fonts.conf", line 72: non-double matrix element
Fontconfig error: "/etc/fonts/conf.d/10-scale-bitmap-fonts.conf", line 72: non-double matrix element
Fontconfig warning: "/etc/fonts/conf.d/10-scale-bitmap-fonts.conf", line 80: saw unknown, expected number
QIODevice::write (QFile, "/home/alex/.cache/kdevduchain/kdevelop-{8db05cd9-4eef-4ac5-8eae-7c9f8982ef6e}/crash_counter"): device not open
failed to open a repository
/tmp/.mount_R5W3GF/AppRun: line 35:  5840 Aborted                 (core dumped) kdevelop $@

Even worse, I am unable to get the older version (using apt-get) installed anymore and would really like to use KDevelop. Can someone tell me which folders/files to remove to eliminate any trace of KDevelop so that I can try again?

Thank you!

This looks weird. Is your disk full?

Tons of free space on my drive. I've tried over and over, rebooting before and after uninstalling just to be sure that some file is not being kept open.

In fact, I tried stuff like find /usr/ -type f -name "*kdev*.so* and manually deleting folders and directories where I find kdev stuff.

Try rm -Rf ~/.cache/kdevduchain. Make sure that directory is writeable by your user ... something's wrong, it cannot open that directory.
