I have no settings menu in KDevelop

Mon Oct 08, 2018 12:43 pm
Hi all,

I have "installed" KDevelop by downloading KDevelop.AppImage. It sort of works but the GUI is all messed up. In particular, i'm missing the menu bar entirely, which makes it very hard to use.

How can I reset KDevelop to show me the normal GUI?

Note: I have also tried to install via apt-get install kdevelop, and that doesn't work either. It doesn't have any menus.

I am running Ubuntu 16.04 LTS.

Here's what happens when I type ./KDevelop.AppImage:

./KDevelop.AppImage

If I run as sudo, my menus show up apparently normally. Is that expected behavior?

Try removing ~/.local/share/kxmlgui5/kdevelop/kdevelopui.rc and ~/.config/kdeveloprc, maybe that fixes it?

Don't run as root, in general, it messes things up; but if you do, you will have a completely separate config, so it's kinda expected.

I'm working on the KDevelop IDE.
