Is it my IDE or is this a general feature of KDE?

when calling item, kdev wont suggest me any autocompletion, for the item object.

At other data types, for example vectors, it works

Is this the norm?

"calling item"? What does that mean?
Please post the exact code you type and where you invoke completion.
