Hi there,
Does anyone know any dark colour schemes for kdevelop and how to install them?

Color schemes are shared by the entire of KDE as far as I am aware.
The current color scheme in use is selectable in System Settings > Appearance > Colors.

Im sorry, I wasnt clear enough.
I was talking about code colour schemes (the way the code is highlighted). Are there any dark colour schemes for that?

Hmm... the colour scheme, assuming it hasn't been manually changed should automatically adapt to the colour scheme KDE uses... in any case it appears that no dark colour schemes exist at this time.

Well Im using a dark desktop theme, but the code's colour scheme remains the same as when I was using a bright one.
Do I need to enable this feature from somewhere?

You shouldn't need to. I would recommend filing a bug report at bugs.kde.org, as the text editor should honour your desktop colour scheme unless specifically set otherwise.

Could it be disabled by the package from the distribution?
Im using Ubuntu, with KDE from backports PPA.

Easily could be... although as far as I am aware, Kubuntu hasn't changed anything in regards to the text editor component or KDevelop.

Dear bcooksley,
If you do not know what you are talking about, you should not give any advice on that matter. Set aside that you are insulting the developers by claiming that orbital_fox should raise a bug. The answer is: You can indeed change the color scheme by Setting -> Configure Editor -> Fonts & Colors -- in here you can change the colors manually or import your favorite scheme. Regards, Jan |

KDevelop has its own highlighter which does NOT use the colours you configure there. However, newer versions of the highlighter should automatically adjust the "rainbow colours" they use to your colour scheme; at least it works okay for me (if I use a dark colour scheme, the highlighter automatically selects brighter colours). Look: http://imgur.com/a/i7muo You can't configure any of those colours in the dialog you mentioned. The more general point, however, is that kate uses a different colour scheme than KDE. That one must be configured seperately. This makes sense in my eyes, as it needs way more colours than the default colour schemes provide. Greetings
I'm working on the KDevelop IDE.

to get a dark color scheme, first select a dark system kde color scheme, then create a new kate color scheme, using: conifgure editor -> fonts & colors -> "Schema: [ ... ] [ -> New <- ]"
the newly created kate color scheme will re-use the KDE color scheme and should hence integrate nicely. That said, janvlasak - no need to be rude towards bcooksley.
