Hi,

I am having problems with Konqueror. When I click it in the start up menu in KDE, i.e.Internet>Konqueror, a welcome to centos window opens up showing a path of /usr/share/doc/HTML/index.html in the address bar, but the application itself does not start.

Maybe the path to the application is set incorrect?

I am using the Centos 5.5 Distro with a standard install of KDE.

What exact KDE version is this?

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...

what errors (if any) are displayed if you run it in Konsole?

does the file /usr/share/doc/HTML/index.html exist?

Not sure on exact version...on the version can I check it via the KDE GUI? Or do I need to do an rpm -qa in terminal?

By Konsole I am assuming you mean the browser window that pops up when I try to start konqueror? I assume the /usr/share/doc/HTML/index.html exists because it shows in the browser window...

Click Help -> About KDE in any KDE application.

I'm working on the KDevelop IDE.

Konsole is the terminal application, running an app within it should display errors - it can be started from Kmenu or from Krunner (alt+F2)

the version of KDE can be displayed by opening a KDE app -> help -> about kde

OK thanks yes I use Konsole all the time for ssh did not know that's what it was called, thought it was called terminal.

I assume that in order to start Konqueror, I will have to find the path to it first and start it up from Konsole, since the start menu link is broken in K menu?

no just type konqueror in konsole and then post the results here, the paths to all the applications should be already set

no errors display in Konsole?

No....no errors in Konsole.

Not sure - I can't remember if I used it after the last upgrade. I think I upgraded it, don't think its a new install from scratch.

Wait....tried it again and did it as root, this came up:

Link points to "/tmp/ksocket-root"
Link points to "/tmp/kde-root"
kbuildsycoca running...
Link points to "/var/tmp/kdecache-root"
DCOP Cleaning up dead connections.

OK I closed out konsole, started it up again and typed in konqueror, and got this...

Link points to "/tmp/ksocket-root"
-bash: Link: command not found
[root@localhost ~]# Link points to "/tmp/kde-root"
-bash: Link: command not found
[root@localhost ~]# kbuildsycoca running...
kbuildsycoca: Unexpected argument 'running...'.
kbuildsycoca: Use --help to get a list of available command line options.
[root@localhost ~]# Link points to "/var/tmp/kdecache-root"
-bash: Link: command not found
[root@localhost ~]# DCOP Cleaning up dead connections.
-bash: DCOP: command not found
[root@localhost ~]#

kbuildsycoca running...
DCOP Cleaning up dead connections.

and also that window again popped up.
