Application: KATE

Issue: When I open an "Open File" dialog window, there is an option to change the view (Short, Detailed, Tree, Detailed Tree). If i change this, it does not remember the setting for the next time I open the dialog. It used to.

Is there a config file setting i can check to make it stick to "Short" view? I've looked and can't find anything.

Thank you very much for your help!

This is no kate specific dialog, the same dialog is used by all kde applications to open or save a file.

[KFileDialog Settings]

That did it. Thanks a million! That was driving me nuts.

I note that it still doesn't save the setting after it changes from the menu, even though it reads the config file just fine. This is different from previous versions, so i'm not sure if i just have a buggy setup or if there is a software issue that prevents it from saving.

Just out of interest - could you try this in other KDE applications (like Konqueror for instance) to see if the issue is reproducible there?
