How to change generic icons for running non-KDE apps in KDE4.1?

I've got several non-KDE apps which just appear with the generic Xorg.png icon in the taskbar when launched, and I'd like to make them visually distinct. I can create menu entries with specific icons, no problem, but once the app is running, I just get that big 'X'.

I can't find any options to associate a specific icon with a specific app, and Google hasn't helped either. Is this just something that isn't possible (yet)?

TIA.

That is because the application itself needs to set it's icon. If the application does not set one ( an XImage I believe ) then KDE provides it's default X logo. KDE does not retrieve this icon from the menu, but from X, which does not have a icon set if the application does not set one.

Solution: contact developers of application(s) in question, or edit the source code of them yourself, and compile it.
