umbrello won't start

Fri Feb 28, 2014 3:42 am
Hi all,

Using Linux Mint 16 "Petra". Did apt-get install umbrello - click icon under "Programming", nothing happens. Attemt to start from cl gives:

Code: Select all
umbrello(13531)/kdeui (kdelibs): Attempt to use QAction "edit_undo" with KXMLGUIFactory!
umbrello(13531)/kdeui (kdelibs): Attempt to use QAction "edit_redo" with KXMLGUIFactory!
umbrello(13531) UMLListView::findView: could not find  "class diagram"  in  UMLListViewItem: "Logical View", type="lvt_Logical_View", id="Logical View", children=1
umbrello(13531) UMLListView::findView: could not find  "class diagram"  in  UMLListViewItem: "Logical View", type="lvt_Logical_View", id="Logical View", children=1

and then apparently nothing.

Then, as per another post -
Code: Select all
umbrello -v
Qt: 4.8.4
KDE Development Platform: 4.11.5
Umbrello UML Modeller: 2.11.5

Anybody have any idea what's going on?

TIA

ps. I found the other thread using the search box but I'm hoping I won't have to log in as a new user whenever I need to use this. And, I posted to the Mint forum with 0 response and tried using the 'umbrello' webchat irc but got nowhere.
Funny enough it works fine in WinDoze.

Please run "kbuildsycoca4 --noincremental" to flush out any caching problems, then logout and back in again.

Thank you - that seems to have worked.
Someone else on the internet - "Easy Tricks Portal" - suggested that the problem was due to umbrello trying to start with '0' width and '0' height and to append "--geometry 600x400+0+0" to the "umbrello" command and that also worked.
I believe your method is probably 'cleaner' so I'll go with that if it 'sticks'.
