On the issue of the Sidebar in QT5:
In Konqueror for QT5 it is possible to emulate the behavior of the QT4 Sidebar by:
1. Window> Split View Left\Right
2. Click on left pane, go to your root folder, then View>Lock to Current Location
3. On the Status Bar (at bottom of window) click on Link Icon (at right lower corner of left panel)

Voila, you have almost the behavior of the old Sidebar.
