KdeRemoteControl and Xenial 16.04  Topic is solved

Thu Apr 21, 2016 11:22 am
I have been testing the new Xenial 16.04 with KDE plasma 5.5.5 and QT 5.5.1 with kernel 4.4.0-21-generic 64-bit and was able to install Kremotecontrol from Synaptic.

However, it doesn't seem to have installed correctly although there were no errors generated on install.
The configuration icon in the systemsettings -> input devices shows no remote control icon and there is also no system tray applet.

Is this broken in 16.04 or it it just my system?

Cheers, Tony.

Edit-

I seem to have stuck this post in the feedback forum, can a moderator please pop it into a more appropriate place for me please?
Tony

moved to KDE Software Other

KCM module probably not ported, it is for KDE 4 so it won't show unless you can install systemsettings4

running krcdnotifieritem will start the systemtray icon so the app might be usable

if the app functions but not the kcm you could post a bug on bugs.kde.org

Thank you for moving the post and the reply. Your suggestion did work, the icon is in the tray, I'll check if it works and report back.

It's working fine with my system. Details:

I stuck it in the KDE autostart settings with multiple dbus options. The tray icon lights when buttons are pressed and the configuration module initiates when right-clicking on the icon.

I'm marking this as solved (if I can work out how to do it-I'm new to this forum).

Thank you for your assistance, google01103
