Yakuake is not restoring my appearance settings on startup. The settings are saved to disk, as far as I can tell with strace, is being read by Yakuake. However, Yakuake uses default settings nevertheless.

Anyone have any clue what's happening here?

Change them in Konsole, that should also affect yakuake.
Or copy the files from ~/.local/share/yakuake/ to ~/.local/share/konsole/.

This is a bug in konsole (the kpart), that should be fixed in the next version:

Ahh, thanks a lot @wolfi323, explains what's going on. I've made the changes to konsole and now the changes stick.
