Hello,
I changed some of the default settings with knotes (namely the color and not to show in taskbar), yet whenever I turn on my computer my notes are saved and displayed, but with the default settings. What I have been doing is copying the text within the note and then creating a new note by clicking "Create new note from clipboard" and then deleting the old note. I have tried uninstalling knotes and then reinstalling it by running the command
In both cases, after I reinstall it, my old settings are saved (if I click on configure knotes I see my colors) but I have the same issue with the knotes being displayed with the default settings.. I am running Kubuntu 16.04.1 and I am a beginner so I don't know if there is any more information that you would like. |

Evidently Knotes is a different app (in some way) from the Notes app in Kontact... and although Knotes creates its own knotesrc (in .config), when starting up it uses the settings in Kontact... also, if Kontact is started first, with Notes module enabled, Knotes will not run as expected (no desktop notes, no icon in system tray, etc.), Kontact will create notes in the Kontact/Notes window... but if Knotes is started before Kontact, we get desktop notes, system tray icon, and new notes go to desktop.
I'm not sure if the above is expected behaviour or a bug (if you think it's a bug, file a bug report), but having said all that, here's how I got mine to work the way I want: - start Knotes, set defaults (colours & whatnotl), quit Knotes - start Kontact, enable Notes module, set same items using the settings module, disable Notes module, quit Kontact - when booting, start Knotes first, then Kontact (if you're using it) -- if you want the other type of behaviour described above, start Kontact first (and probably not start Knotes) HTH, Matt Z. |

Thank you for you help.
I think that what I am experiencing is a bug, but I am not quite sure how to report it. Last time I tried, https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=372290 , I must have done something wrong. As for your guide, I am not sure how to enable and disable Notes module. I never use Kontact, could it be that it is booting first? If so, how can I prevent that? |
