Reading at the https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1586328&p=9917145#post9917145 #9 KVPM is mentioned as being able to partition, etc. LVMs.
I installed Ubuntu using it's encryption at clean install time onto a bare silicon ssd. I then, using Ubuntu's "Backups" restored /home onto the ssd. I kept the backup of /home onto an external sata device. The encrypted /home is on the external drive and I want to make a copy of it to another external device. In regular (by which I mean not LiveUSB) mode, I can see the folder icons that represent the encrypted /home. But I cannot figure out how to copy it to the other device. (both external sata drives are EXT4). In LiveUSB mode, the icons cannot even be seen. I'm guessing that is the encryption. Is KVPM able to make encrypted partition copies? I don't see that at the SourceForge page. Also, after I installed KVPM when I run it, a message comes on screen saying: Error: Executable not found. Closing that the app seems to run normally. But I cannot be certain that it's working fully. What is the very safest way to copy this? I cannot copy or resize the partition on the external sata. As soon as I have the second copy, I'll start to work on the restoring to the new partition for /home on the new drive. |
