I have been using KGPG for a while and find it rather easy to use for key management. But I have not yet grasp the proper method of signing a key of a person I know, and then uploading my verification of their key to the public key servers.

What is the proper way of doing that through KGPG?

I have signed a few keys, and did not tick the check box for keeping the signatures local for some of the more thoroughly checked ones, so they are ready to go. I just don't want to make an irreversible error!
