Hello,

I can't find where Kile's shortcuts are stored (so that I can transfer the shortcuts to other machines)

There is no [kile] section in ./config/kglobalshortcutsrc , and grepping recursively on a shortcut used in Kile turns nothing up in .kde or .config.

So... where are the shortcuts supposed to be stored ?

(rant: I dream of a world where every config GUI offers an easy way to find out where the **** it stores its info. Apparently everyone else either does not try to automate anything, or has a 1/round Divine Config Location spell, because I have NEVER seen any software whatsoever with what I regularly think should be an obvious feature).

You could also check .local which has a few other things in it (I'd guess the difference between .local/share and .config is similar to the difference between /usr/share and /etc).
Of course when copying/syncing settings between machines, you can usually just set it up to copy/sync all dot files in your home directory (or just your entire home directory), which always has been the standard place for per-user settings. (it just seems that recently there's been a movement to start putting things in .config/<app> rather than in .<app>, which should make it easier to find and sync configs)

Hello,

Thanks, I'll try .local.

I don't want to overwrite all settings on the target machine, so transferring all dot files / the whole home directory is not doable in that case.

I hope that convention gains ground. It would be nice if the config files situation were less messy.
