hello. i'm new here, so sorry if i post in wrong section. last month i migrated from big m system to KDE Neon. this month has been mostly spent on understanding and configuring system. i did it empirically so as a noob i had to reinstall 3 times nearly all is good now, but out of nowhere problem with firefox came up (i'm thinking some system updates maybe messed with it, but no knowledge to diagnose it). my fox is running very smoothly overall, until it freezes… the freeze intensifies few seconds before there is completely no reaction from system (or cursor moves with big delay). if i close browser before complete freeze system runs fine. it usually happens when opening complicated pages like facebook, but sometimes it happens when going into about:preferences, or switching tabs. sometimes it's right away after browser start, other times after several minutes. don't know a way to 100% reproduce. tried new profile, installing nightly, disabling hwa, disabling servo, disabling e10 – it still comes up, so i presume it's system related, not firefox itself. if anyone have any idea how to diagnose, or even fix, i'd be very grateful.

found a partial solution after 12 hours of experimenting. firefox hits physical memory limit and that results in freezing. to avoid it one has to buy more mem or create swap. i created it on usb stick.
here is more about the issue: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... bug/159356 |
