Hello,
I'm using Qtvkbd (Virtual keyboard software) who is better than the default virtual keyboard under Kde Plasma. This software works very well under Xorg/X11 (Kde Plasma 5 and QT5) but not under Wayland. I've got a "Segmentation fault (core dumped)" message when it is launched in a Wayland session. Is there a way to make it work with Xwayland ? How to make it compatible with Wayland as the source code is available here : https://github.com/Alexander-r/qtvkbd ? All your help would be appreciable if you can help me. Thanks.

You may fork the project and add wayland support as described at https://doc.qt.io/qt-5/qtvirtualkeyboard-deployment-guide.html#using-qt-virtual-keyboard-with-qt-wayland or wait for the author to do this, or contribute to the current kde virtual keyboard to add the missing features you need.

Hi,
thanks for your reply. You helped me to make Qtvkbd works under Wayland (with the help of your link). Now, I can use Qtvkbd under Kde Plasma 5.20.1 with wayland as I can do with kde plasma with X11/Xorg. Thank you very much. But I think that porting Qtvkbd under Wayland would be better. |
